SCOA History

In 2003 a group of Saleen Mustang owners decided to venture outside the lines of conformity to organize a new club that would focus on events. Mike Chessnoe led the efforts along with approximately 14 other charter members to form a new club. The concept was simple. They wanted to be part of “a club that didn’t suck.“ The result of that idea ultimately became the Saleen Club Of America.

The Saleen Club Of America’s purpose is to share, enjoy, preserve and authentically maintain Saleen motor vehicles; to serve as an accurate and technical source of information concerning these automobiles for the benefit of its Members as well as the general public; to promote, develop, and arrange meetings and events for the enjoyment of its Members; and to encourage fellowship, commingling and social contact among Saleen owners and fans through Club publications and related social and recreational events. It can be summed up in the motto: “Fun, Friendships and Saleens”.

Today the club boasts well over 300 members and has gone international. It has members in nearly every state and reached at least 12 other countries. The club continues to grow annually, however with so few cars built, the numbers will never eclipse groups like the Mustang Club of America. Saleen’s tag line, Power in the Hands of a Few, is very fitting because the cars are hand crafted and limited in production.
